Five-Star Safety Rating

HHR scored the highest possible rating in all four crash seating positions. That means driver and right-front passenger seating positions in the frontal crash test plus the front and rear seating positions in the side-impact test all received five stars.(1)

Four-Star Rollover Rating

HHR scored four stars on rollover resistance rating. That means its risk for rollover is only 10-20% in a single-vehicle crash. Be sure to maintain your tires, load your vehicle properly and avoid overcorrecting your steering to help minimize your risk.(2)

ABS

The antilock brake system (ABS) is a crash avoidance feature that helps prevent wheel lockup during braking in most slippery road conditions. It’s standard on 2LT and available on LS and 1LT.

Driver Information Center (DIC)

This standard feature helps keep you up to date on various functions of your HHR. Located inside the speedometer, it includes an Oil-Life Monitor and conveys trip information and calculations. You’ll also get personalized settings such as door-lock functionality, Remote Keyless Entry preferences and remote start disablement (when equipped). Readouts are available in three languages — English, Spanish and French.

Traction Control

To enhance traction and help keep you going, this feature uses the ABS sensors to automatically detect and act to reduce wheel slip. It’s included and only available with ABS and automatic transmission.

Head-Curtain Air Bags

Head-curtain side-impact air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of head injuries to front-seat occupants on the near side of certain side-impact collisions. They're available on every HHR, but require ABS on LS and 1LT.(3)

OnStar

Available on every HHR as long as your model has head-curtain side-impact air bags and ABS, OnStar(4) with a one-year Safe & Sound Plan provides you with 24-hour access to helpful Advisors who can assist in a variety of situations.

Vehicle Diagnostics checks some of your vehicle's key systems, such as your engine, air bags and antilock brakes, while you drive. You'll receive an automatic email report once a month that includes your current mileage, remaining oil life, maintenance alerts and more.

And new Turn-by-Turn Navigation(5), included with the available Directions & Connections Plan, gives you simple, step-by-step voice-guided instructions on how to get to your next destination. Push the OnStar button, and you'll never have to stop and ask for directions.

With Advanced Automatic Crash Notification (AACN), an OnStar Advisor will attempt to contact you, inquiring whether or not you need assistance. If you're unable to answer, the Advisor will contact a nearby emergency services provider who will dispatch help to your determined location.
